YE MERRIE GREENWOOD RENAISSANCE FAIRE

Whips, shackles and cannon fire.  Oh my!!

It was so hot at the Ye Merrie Greenwood Renaissance Faire in Tri-Cities that we literally had smoke coming out of the cannon!  Seriously, the event was a tremendous hit.

Captain Savage, Gracie Hawkins and The Handsome Stranger (named after his father, don't you know) were cracking more than jokes this time!  Their whips demonstration was spectacular.

As pirates are wont to do, our crew went pillaging and plundering and even engaged in a little kidnapping for ransom.  Our prize was a pretty young girl named Lady Elizabeth.  Those of us with more delicate sensibilities realized that the handcuffs weren't so necessary.  I personally know how impossible it is to run fast in a bodice (not much room for the lungs to expand!) and took it upon myself to give her free reign over our campsite.

We had the privilege of being the first pirate crew invited to participate in the Merry Greenwood faire in quite a while.  We took full advantage and fired the blackpowder small arms and the cannon at opening and closing of the faire, and again in salute to the Queen, mid-afternoon.  The crowd really went wild!  We got many compliments on our demonstration of the weapons as well as the ground-shaking charges.

THE CREW OF PUGET SOUND PIRATES: PACIFIC NORTHWEST PRIVATEERS WISHES TO SEND A VERY SINCERE THANK YOU TO MARJORIE KUNIGISKY, the Production Director and Director of Ye Merrie Greenwood Players for inviting us to come and be Privateers at the faire this year.  We look forward to making next year even more special and successful!!

Huzzah!

Mercy's Message:

As the crew's scribe ("web wench"), I am taking a few liberties by adding my own special note.

Ye Merrie Greenwood was one of the first big events of the year for us.  It was nice to be reunited with fellow faire participants and loyal fans alike.  There are so many groups and individuals that I only see during faire season (too short!!) that make participating in the events all the more special.  I even met some new people this year, and can't wait to see them again.

Very notably, I would like to mention Laura Hagen of Taken by the Sky.  I was browsing through Laura's unbelievably gorgeous irish dresses and other tasty goodies (takenbythesky.com) when I mentioned being with the pirate group down the way.  Laura paid me one of the most unexpected and appreciated compliments I've had in a while.  SHE RECOGNIZED THE NAME OF OUR WEBSITE AND LIKES IT!!  Captain Savage and I are truly touched that she had heard of us and had such nice things to say.  THANK YOU!  It does a wench's heart good to know her work doesn't go unnoticed.

James the Obscure, thanks for the stories.  Seeing you always brings an extra bit of joy.

The O'Malley, thank you for your generous spirit.  It was a pleasure and an honor to be part of your crew.

There are too many others to mention here, but thanks to all of you for making that event so much fun.  I look forward to seeing you all again next year, if not sooner.

We are NOT combatants, and do not seek to win at combat. We are actors whose performances are designed for entertainment and educational purposes only.

NEVER point a weapon, either real, a toy, or a replica at another person.

ALWAYS assume that any weapon is loaded and that its use can harm those it is pointed toward.

NEVER attempt to copy or replicate the fights we perform.
